Interview with Jorden Tually

'I have eaten a duck fetus; that was pretty..'

Meet the Aussie backpacker, a graphic designer living life on the edge, balancing his passions for travel and Pokemon on a budget. Originating from Sydney and currently stationed in Newcastle, yesterday was an adventurous camping escapade, capturing creativity amidst nature's beauty. Surprising others with a love for 80s/90s music and a trip to Vegas solely for Celine Dion, this adventurer envisions himself as the tastiest chocolate from Willy Wonka's factory. Not one to hide an elephant, he'd proudly showcase Dumbo to the world. With fears of unrealized potential and missing out on love, he's devoured a duck fetus in the Philippines and faced financial stress during a pricey road trip. A bathroom singer at heart, he aspires to have underwater superpowers and recommends watching "The Greatest Showman."

Tell us a bit about your background and where you grew up.

I grew up in Sydney, Australia. Life consisted of the beach and friends. Life as a child was awesome, and I spent each day trying to be more like one again! Most people want to grow up but, I want to grow down.

Your current location?

I am currently hanging out in the awesome little town called Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia. It's home so it's good to be here!

Choose five words to describe yesterday.

Yesterday, I just came back from camping so I would say it was adventurous, creative, beautiful, natural, and tiring!

Tell us something that would surprise people about you.

I love music from the 80s/90s, I once travelled to Las Vegas for the sole reason to see Celine Dion, live - don’t judge me; she is a queen!

What three things would you take if you moved out to a desert island?

My orange hat, my selfie stick, and my GoPro.

If you were a biscuit, which would you be?

I would be chocolate, but not just any chocolate. It would be Chocolate from Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, and it would be the tastiest chocolate ever!

If we gave you an elephant where would you hide it?

This question is so funny, I wouldn’t hide it. I would for sure show the world my cute pet, called Dumbo the Elephant!

What is your biggest & weirdest fear?

Not living up to my potential and not finding my freaking awesome wife! (she is out there somewhere haha).

What was the last lie you told?

Not sure, maybe it was that I was too busy to hang out when I was actually,  just too lazy.

What would be your one superpower?

I want to be able to have 20/20 vision underwater and have gills to breathe underwater, that would be amazing.

Recommend a book, film, or album from the past year.

I just watched The Greatest Showman and it was the best movie I have seen in a long time. YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT!

What's the one question you wished someone would have asked you, but never have?

I wish more people asked about my celeb crushes but, I guess you don't ask so you will never know.

What is the strangest thing you have eaten?

I have eaten a duck fetus in the Philippines, that was pretty gross!

Biggest pickle you have got yourself into whilst travelling.

Committing to a 14-day road trip that was way too expensive for me. I just stressed about every dollar I spent. Either that, or the multiple times locals tried to scam me, but that’s part of the fun!

Are you a bathroom singer?

It depends on what mood I am in but I wouldn’t put it past me!

Your favourite quote?

I have so many, but one that stands out is “Beautiful Things Don’t Ask for Attention” from my favourite movie The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
